McALLEN, August 7 - Thanks but no thanks. That was the message Hidalgo County Regional Mobility Authority gave Dannenbaum Engineering when the civil design firm submitted gifts to each member of the board.
Dannenbaum, which is headquartered in Houston but has a regional office in McAllen, is bidding to win the contract to construct the so-called Southern Loop, a proposed highway project that would run from Penitas to Donna/Weslaco. The Southern Loop contract could be worth more than $550 million.
