Deception By Carmen & Co.

Before the taxpayers of Edinburg went to vote on the bond election. All I ever heard was that we needed to pass the bond election. So the state can pick up 52% of the matching funds. Well, the bond passed, but we were lied to. Here is a clip of just what they had to say.

Approving the measure would allow the district to qualify for state instructional facility allotment funds, which would pay for 52 percent of the $112 million of building projects, district spokesman Gilbert Tagle said. That state help would not be available if the bond issue does not pass in May.

Sounds pretty cut and dry to me. Pass the bond election. Get up to 52% of the matching funds by the state. Not so fast!

Here is another clip.

EDINBURG - A $112 million school bond voters passed in May is already being cashed in.

Members of the Edinburg school board and a committee of school district residents are gathering qualifications from companies interested in managing and constructing six new Edinburg schools and renovating four others.

Their hope is that the state will reimburse construction costs, but a decision on that isn't expected from the Texas Education Agency until August

The last line is the give away. We have to wait until August. What if we don't get the matching funds? I mean with the way the economy is now a days, anything is possible. We were lied to again!
