This Is So Very, Very Sad!

This is an email I got from a citizen in Edinburg. I am going to leave out the name of the vet to avoid libel charges. But I am sending a copy, with the name of the vet office and who it is, to our local senator and legislature. So, maybe they can put this idiot out of business. I am an animal lover. And I will be damned if this is going to happen again!

There are certain things you don't do in the United States. You don't hit kids. And you certainly don't be cruel to animals. Thanks for the email. And I will make sure it gets into the proper hands.

About a week and a half ago, I was faced with one of the most difficult decisions in my life. I had to euthanize my boxer mix, Brick. When i walked into the vets office, I could barely choke those word out.

After filling out some paperwork, and wiping the tears from my eyes, I handed them over. About ten minutes pass, and they tell me they are ready. I walk out to my truck, pet my friend tell him he's a good boy, and carry him in.

They instructed me to place him on the table in front of me, where an old man in a wheel chair sat, and a young frazzle headed guy in jeans t-shirt and a baseball cap stood beside. The young guy then asks "welp how much do i gib em" The old guy jumps a lil like he had just been woken up, and replies eh.. 10cc.

Now keeping in mind, Euthanasia usually consists of injecting an animal with an overdose of Pentobarbitone Anesthetic. Which results in the animal falling asleep in seconds, and heart stopping moments later. This is NOT what happened! The young guys readies the injection, takes 5 minutes to find a vein, then injects.

You could see the panic in my dogs eyes, he became fully alert and aware of what was beginning to happen. He started loosing muscle control, his body spasmed and convulsed. He cried, oh how he cried.. As he began to loose control over his body he collapsed fighting to keep his head up and in my arms.

Soon he was just laying there, his head was shaking, and he laid there panting heavily. This process lasted for about 4 minutes.. Then the kid goes and fills another syringe up with something else.. he pokes around for another 2 minutes trying to hit a vein after he literally destroyed the vein in the dogs right arm.

They finally pull the old guy out of his wheelchair, and his hands shaking like a jackhammer still found the vein faster than the kid did. He injects another dose into my dog. After this he exclaims, dogs dead.. the thumps my dog in the eye three times and nods..

I look down and my dog is still breathing, his heart is pounding in his chest. I said He's not dead. The vet argues and thumps him in the eye again? Then goes HES DEAD. At this point I'm about to go nuclear, as I point at the dogs chest and said HE"S NOT DEAD. You could obviously tell my pet was still breathing, and probably suffering as his heart looked like it was about to blow through his chest. The vet argued again..

The kid looks at him and says.. yap.. he still alive. The vet then grumbles at the kid, then asks for a stethoscope.. He then listens to the dogs heart, not that it couldn't be seen and said I'll be dern.. he's still alive.. Give em 10 more CC Now there are two ruined veins, one on each of my pets front legs. the kid pokes around for 2 more minutes.. before he drags the old man out of his wheelchair again to find the vein and inject him.

My dog finally dies... After 30 minutes of suffering through a "painless peaceful euthanasia".. After this they handed me a bill for 70 dollars and told me to take the body with me. They tried to put my dog in a plastic bag.. I just pushed them out of the way and carried him out the same way i carried him in

I apologize that the story is graphic, but I think people need to know about this guy, and avoid him. He shouldn't not have a license to practice veterinary medicine, and if i had any recourse of action.. I'd probably take him to court. No ones pet deserves to suffer the way mine did and no pet owner deserves to sit and watch their friend die in such a horrible way.
