Amendment to Ban Gays and Lesbians as Foster Parents
On April 19, Rep. Robert Talton offered an amendment to the Committee Substitute for Senate Bill 6, the omnibus Child Protective Services (CPS) reform bill, on the floor of the Texas House of Representatives to ban gays, lesbians and bi-sexuals from serving as foster parents. The amendment also requires the state to take children away from their foster parents if CPS determines those parents to be gay, lesbian,or bi-sexual.
