BREAKING NEWS :Guajardo pleads guilty

McALLEN -- Former Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Superintendent Arturo Guajardo pleaded guilty last week to one count of extortion in connection with a bribes-for-votes scheme that allegedly involved three other board members.

Guajardo entered his plea Friday before U.S. District Judge Ricardo Hinojosa, admitting to count nine of a 22-count indictment, court records show.
