The 900 Pound Monster

When you think of The Monitor. What comes to mind? The one sided stories that they run. How they can persuade voters? How bias they can be? How lopsided they can be in a story?

Richard Cortez

During the runoff campaign, a close Cortez supporter head butted one man and struck another in a partisan scuffle outside an early voting location. Cortez first grimly condemned the fight, but later defended his friend’s actions, saying J.J. Avila had been provoked.
And later, after his election win was secured, he laughed it off.

Avila “happened to sneeze at the wrong time,” Cortez joked to supporters at his victory party.

Why would they even write about this knowing that they are not going to print the name of the other individual involved in this incident? The other individual was Aaron Pena III. He was working the Ric Godinez campaign.

Maybe Aaron has threatened to sue them? Maybe Aaron Pena has something The Monitor doesn't want you to know about.

Whatever the case maybe. There are two sides to every story. So why pimp up Mayor Cortez at the beginning of the piece. Only to throw this in the end.

They do this for a reason. Maybe cause they like controversy. Maybe there trying to stir up a hornets nest and see who is going to challenge Mayor Cortez. Maybe they need to do this to keep up with all the internet papers and blogs that are out there.

I can tell you this. A newspaper on paper is becoming yesterday's news. Why? It's called the internet. When you look for politics do you go to The Monitor? No you go on the net.

What about today's article:

Edinburg Still Has No City Manager

Like The Monitor really cares about Edinburg.
Edinburg is doing just fine with the leadership we have in Joe Ochoa and Gus Garcia.

Maybe The Monitor thinks that Edinburg can't function without a city manager?

It's The Monitor's way of saying come spend advertising with us. Let's shake some trees and see what falls. Some people give you all way to much credit. Your yesterday's news.

Money Up In Austin

If Aaron Pena is paranoid now. Wait until wed. I'm sure he has told all his staff to stop everyone with a camera and video recorder and ask them for credentials. He doesn't want anyone to know that the Republicans are throwing him a fundraiser. Ok, Aaron I'll be quiet. shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Only Aaron can come to a town hall democratic meeting then to go back up for a Republican fundraiser. Oh sorry shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
