Wow, what a hurricane. It was very frustrating to see the eye move so slowly throughout the valley. I did go out to look at the damage here in Edinburg. I can say one thing. Our drainage system does work. Within one to two hours the flooding all but left. For all of you who don't know. The park located right in front of Barrientes school is a holding pond.
That means that the water being drained from the streets is going there. We do have several holding ponds throughout the city. Another one would be located on sugar and chapin street. The water being drained from the streets has to go somewhere. And these are the places the water ends up. Our drainage systems do work.
Besides that, we did see several trees damaged. But overall I think the city held up pretty good. Hope all is safe! Politics is one thing! Surviving something like this is another.
Just a thought! With all the technology that we have. Don't you think someone can come up with a way to destroy a hurricane in the ocean before it makes landfall? Talk about your next invention! Sounds good to me if that can be done. I understand some scientists were getting together to talk about that.
