The Moment Of Truth Has Arrived

Will Gene Espinoza show up and vote on change order #9? An edinburg city council meeting is scheduled for today. And on the agenda is change order # 9 for the sum of 300,000. Will Gene show up? He didn't show up last meeting. Why?

He is afraid about the other council members taking up a discussion about a possible conflict of interest. Enriquez was given the contract by Richard Garcia to build the new city hall. Enriquez gave Rio Grande Steel a subcontract. Which happens to be Gene's employer. Now, Enriquez will be asking for change order # 9 tonight.

Call it what you may. Something seems very wrong here. We have been gathering information. A definition of the term conflict of interest from the Tx Attorney General's office. And now we have some opinions that back our argument that Gene is in a conflict.

What next? Well, it does say that a conflict of interest means that the contract would be void. But here is the thing. I'm sure everyone got what they wanted. Rio Grande Steel supplied the steel. And Enriquez probably has already paid Rio Grande Steel for there services.

It seems to me there will be some fireworks tonight! I encourage all of the edinburg taxpayers to show up to tonight's meeting. It's going to be very very interesting. And we will all get to see if Gene raises his right hand to give Enriquez another $300,000 dollars. I can't see how he can say NO. Enriquez gave Gene's employer the subcontract. Stay Tune!
