Ever been to an Edinburg City Council Meeting? It's hilarious! Every time there is a vote. Alma Garza has to excuse herself. To call the Palacios family on how to vote. She will make comments like. Can we take a 5 min break. Or can we table this till next time. Or she may make a reference that she needs to discuss this with other people. Remember, she was appointed to this position. She has to cater to the people that got her there.
She says she's running cause she loves Edinburg. She loves Edinburg so much that under her leadership. She has seen the new edinburg city hall go over budget some 10 million dollars.
She must really love this wonderful city. She even saw the new edinburg police station go over budget some 4 million dollars. She loves Edinburg so much. She's considering changing the name from Edinburg to Palacios II. Since there already is a Palacios Tx.
But one thing is clear. She did say NO to the tax freeze for the elderly and disabled. She is not the brightest person in this world. But you got to hand it to her. She loves to over spend other peoples money.
Gene Espinoza
Why is Gene Espinoza running for re election? It's pretty simple! Gene is a sales representative for Rio Grande Steel. The more steel he sells. The bigger his commission checks are. So, how does Gene go about finding business. Does he do cold calling? Does he do door to door sales? No!
All Gene has to do is raise his right hand. Edinburg is getting a new city hall. Guess who got the steel sub contract? Edinburg is getting a new police station. Guess who got the steel sub contract. Look how it says sub contract.
Example: They gave Enriquez Construction the contract for the new city hall. And guess who Enriquez gave the sub contract for steel? You guessed! You help me! I help you!
Is this a conflict of interest? Of course it is. But the city attorney is not about to bite the hand that feeds him. Who votes for the city attorney? The city council members. And one of them happens to be Mean Gene.
And let us not forget Owassa Rd and the road to nowhere. This road only helped out one person. And that was the owner of Rio Grande Steel.
