Remembering A Craddick D

Absence of two Valley Reps proves crucial on key Voter ID amendment.

AUSTIN - The absence of two Rio Grande Valley lawmakers from the House floor on Monday proved crucial on a closely fought amendment to a controversial Voter ID bill.

"It's very hard to lose these battles by one vote. I don't know why my colleagues are not here," said Rep. Norma Chavez, D-El Paso, when asked about the absence of Flores and Peña.

Dunnam said he believed that if his amendment had passed, Democrats would have gone on to secure other amendments to water down some of the provisions in HB 218.

The good people of the RGV need better representation in Austin, it seems to me. Of course, many of them may be unable to vote in the next election because Pena and Flores, by their absence, enabled this bill to pass.

Let's hope the Senate can muster the effort to defeat it.

Comments:

Amen to all of that! When are Texas Democrats going to realize that this is 2007?

Can we PLEASE get rid of this usless pair in the primary? Kino and Pena blow!

A Call For Redemption

Can the Craddick D's find redemption? Will they publicly support ending the Craddick regime? We remember the Craddick 15. We remember them picking ambition above helping Texas teachers. We remember them wanting chairmanships and plush committee assignments instead of ensuring our children had health insurance.

Now it is time for the Craddick 15 to remember the bigger pictuer- the greater good. Eddie Lucio III and Patrick Rose have publicly said that they no longer stand with Craddick. Call them and say thank you.

For the other 13, tell them to remember the broken promises. Tell them to remember that their constituents need them. Tell them to remember that the House is in turmoil and this Speaker has created a constitutional crisis. Tell them to stand up against Craddick, and tell them we will remember what happens in these final hours.

Now is the time for good Democrats to stand up.

Call Aaron Pena @ 533-6330 And let him know that CHANGE is coming! Let him know that he will not get his pension. Let him know that your kids are uninsured cause of the cut funding Aaron did to the CHIP bill.

Let him know that the Texas teachers deserve more that a $1.25 a day raise.

Let him know that we are democrats in dist. 40. And we will not tolerate him being a Republican.

Let him know that he needs to stay home with his kids.

Let him know we deserve more. We deserve CHANGE! And CHANGE is COMING! Ask him why is the UTPA fine arts center short 10 million dollars. Ask him why the Edinburg Museum is refusing to take the money he was able to get for them.

Ask him why he didn't vote to ban gays and lesbians from becoming foster parents?

Ask him why he didnt vote for the teacher fingerprint bill?

Ask him why he voted against the cancer research fund?

Ask him why he was absent on the voter id bill? When they voted for the bill 16 times.

Ask him why he didn't join the other reps in supporting a higher minimum wage?

Ask him why he cut 10,758 hidalgo county kids off of CHIP

Ask him why he voted for Craddick?

Ask him why he gave the seconding nomination speech?

Ask him where are the projects you said you brought to your dist?

Ask him in the five years that you have been a st. rep. What have you done?

People want CHANGE! And CHANGE is COMING!
