(SULLIVAN CITY) — Influential Sullivan City Mayor Gumaro ‘Maro’ Flores today announced that he is supporting Democratic challenger Eddie Saenz in his race for Texas House, making it unanimous among District 40’s top city executives, who have all endorsed Saenz as the best hope for bringing positive change to Austin.
“Eddie will put people first and politics last,” Mayor Flores said. “My fellow mayors and I believe that’s the kind of leadership our region needs in Austin to help deal with the challenges we face.”
Saenz has now been endorsed by the mayors of every city in the district, including Edinburg Mayor Joe Ochoa, Edcouch Mayor Calin Guzman, Elsa Mayor Senovio Castillo, and La Villa Mayor Rene Castillo.
Mayor Flores, the father of State Representative Ismael ‘Kino’ Flores of Palmview, noted that Saenz’ expertise as a health care leader and successful civil engineer makes him uniquely qualified to address two of the most important issues for local families and communities.
