Restoring childrens health insurance: HB 109 restores access to the state Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) for more than 100,000 children of low-wage working families.
Bills that would have restored affordable health insurance fully for another 100,000-plus children were squelched because of resistance from the legislative leadership Speaker of the House Tom Craddick and Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst.
