One world to describe last night's event would be "Awesome" People from the delta area, edinburg, la joya and sullivan city showed up to show there support for Eddie Saenz.
(EDINBURG) — Edinburg engineer, community leader, and health care chairman Eddie Saenz last night officially announced his bid for the Texas House District 40 seat.
“It’s a new day and a new direction,” Saenz told nearly 400 supporters at a packed rally in Edinburg Thursday evening. “Let’s go there together.”
Saenz urged voters to approve a critical cancer fund initiative on the November statewide ballot and then join the diverse group of elected officials, health care advocates, small business owners, and other community leaders who have endorsed his campaign.
“Our candidacy offers hope to a community united for positive change, not more of the same,” Saenz said.
Saenz is owner and chief executive officer of one of South Texas’ leading civil engineering firms, a recognized expert in helping cities, school districts, and other public entities improve their operations and basic services, and chairman of the South Texas Health Systems.
A former president of the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce, Saenz also served on Texas Border Infrastructure Coalition Transportation Committee and the Edinburg 2020 Action Committee. He is currently helping to lead the South Texas effort to pass Proposition 15, the cancer initiative designed to trigger a $3 billion investment over the next 10 years to make Texas a center of research into cancer prevention.
Saenz’ opponent was the only Democrat to vote against the legislation putting the measure on the ballot, passed the Texas House in May.
