I personally want to thank you for allowing the
"CITIZENS OF EDINBURG" to voice our opinions.
I would like to start off by stating that i will be the first in line to sign a petition to remove Gilbert Garza as School Superintendent.
I am glad to hear all the great feedback that people are starting to e-mail with in regards to our children's safety.
Next, I was really happy with the last blog that came out about pulling a Police Office from the High School and Middle School to keep our School District Patrol
Alive.
Having 5 Police Officers and 3 Security Guards at our high schools seems a little too much. We could pull a one maybe 2 police officers from high schools, and pull one police officer from the middle schools and we have a set of 7-10 police officers to
help out with patrolling our district.
I do not agree with that some people think that our police department have to many people. What is wrong with having someone in a uniform always watching what is going on with our children in and around schools.
I pay taxes in this city and i know for a fact that Gilbert Garza and the Edinburg School District have plenty of money to throw up in the air, Just look at
Gilbert Garza's Monthly Paycheck Stub.
We as "CITIZENS OF EDINBURG" and "TAX PAYERS" should decide what is best for our children.
Who in the world does Gilbert Garza and Carmen Gonzalez think they are to tell us about what is "SAFE" for our children.
I have taken the Liberty of going online today and researching the duties and responsibilities of school police officers.
According to TEA School Law Section 37.081
"SCHOOL DISTRICT PEACE OFFICERS AND SECURITY PERSONNEL SHALL PERFORM ADMINISTRATIVE AND LAW ENFORCEMENT DUTIES FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT AS DETERMINED BY THE
BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT".
Those duties include:
1. THE SAFETY AND WELFARE OF ANY PERSON IN THE JURISDICTION OF THE PEACE OFFICER AND TO THE PROPERTY OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT.
There is more important information here, but I do not see anywhere in this "TEXAS LAW" giving any authority to Superintendent Gilbert Garza to be quote
"ABOVE THE LAW" to destroy the Edinburg School District Police Patrol Division.
WE ARE THE TAX PAYERS, WE OWN THOSE SCHOOLS, NOT GILBERT GARZA AND CARMEN GONZALEZ!!!!!
As a tax payer and an active registered voter, i demand that our children, staff and property be safe and protected by our school police department.
MAKE OUR SCHOOL SAFE GILBERT AND CARMEN!!!!
MY CHILDREN ARE MY LIFE AND MY WORLD!!!!
The safety of our children must always be our 1st
priority.
What is it going to take to prove to Gilbert Garza and Carmen Gonzalez that they are wrong, and the lives of our children and staff are at high risk.
Our school property unprotected at night will only openly invite criminal activity.
